March 3 Horicon

Previous

We have had a very unseasonably warmer winter this year and had a couple of days already in the 60s, but in the middle of the week and also no rain to wash the roads. However, today was going to be around 70 and the roads weren’t too bad, with an exception of winds gusting in the 40+ mph range. I knew Kevin would be out riding and I wanted to as well, but not on my own bike with this kind of wind. So, I asked if he’d let me tag along on the back of his ride and he said yes. I didn’t even have to plan a route. How sweet is that!?!?

He picked me up around 10:30 and it was still pretty chilly at that time of day. He planned a route through Horicon Marsh to Fox Lake for lunch at the Boat House. So glad I didn’t attempt to take my bike since he chose quite a few wide open roads going east or west, and with the southernly winds it pushed us around pretty good on his bike and two-up.

Lunch at the Boat House was exceptional, as usual. From there we meandered to Horicon and then Mayville with a stop for ice cream at a new place downtown, Sweet Peas, which also has pies. We both got a piece of pie to take home for later on and mine was super yummy, candy apple.

Although I did not get out on my own bike, it was still very enjoyable except for the wind. Think its the earliest I’ve been out on a bike period. Next time I will be on mine!
