Oct 30 Mt. Morris

Since my plans to go to Madison fell through for today, I was going to be able to get in another ride. Although today would not be as sunny as yesterday, it was still supposed to get up into the low 60s. So, I sent Kari a message the night before and she said her and Erica were planning on going to Mt. Morris area today. Well, I finally was able to make up for the ride I missed with these two ladies on September 24th due to a broken float in my carburetor.

I met Kari at Bluemke’s BP in Rosendale at 12:30, then we headed to Princeton to meet Erica at the BP.

From there we took 73 north and then some back roads east and north into Mt. Morris with a stop at Mt. Morris Park. Although the fall colors were past peak, it was still a breathtaking view from the overlook there. And, low and behold, seems like whenever I ride with Kari and its supposed to be cloudy, we have sun.

From there we went back past Mt. Morris and stopped at The Hideaway for drinks and a bite to eat. Luckily the Packers weren’t playing because hardly anyone was there and it was loud enough with the small group near us at the bar.

It did cloud up while we were at The Hideway, but it was still pretty warm. Erica took Cty F east to Berlin with us before dropping off on Cty D to head back to Princeton. Kari and I continued on Cty F out of Berlin to Ripon and when we got to Olden Road, Kari dropped off and I continued to Hwy 23. Although I usually love Olden Road, due to it getting a little bit late and a bit cooler, I just wanted to take a straight shot home.

What a privilege it was to ride with these two today and have an extension to my seat time this season, which I was certain would have been over by now. Also, although I have been around Mt. Morris many times, Erica took us on some roads I have never been on before, including never being to or knowing about Mt. Morris Park. Thanks Erica!
