July 11 Wild Rose

Planned a route to Wild Rose today on some back roads we haven’t been on before, and both Tom and Kevin joined me. We were scheduled to arrive in Wild Rose right around noon. So, we planned to eat lunch somewhere along the main drive on Hwy 22. It was around 11:45 when we arrived and a spot was open right in front of the Pioneer Pub & Grub. Last time I had been there it wasn’t a very good experience and I cannot remember exactly why, but have avoided it ever since. However, I knew it had sold since then so thought it might be safe to give it a shot under the new ownership. Wrong! First off they said we could sit out on the deck, but nobody came to bring menus. So Kevin went inside and a waitress promptly showed up and took our drink order. Well, she didn’t come back, so we went back in. This time she completely forgot we ordered drinks so never put that in at the bar. Then it was over an hour and no food. I was getting a bit upset because I wanted to stop for ice-cream again in Princeton and get home somewhat early. Well, I don’t think they ever put our order in and we offered to pay for our drinks when we told them we had to leave, but they declined us paying for them. Good call! So off to the Chatterbox Diner across the street. We got our food within 20 minutes and it was very good for a small diner.

From there we took a bunch of back roads with a pit stop along the White River, and although we did end up in Princeton, we were too full from our late lunch and no time to stop for ice-cream.

Another beautiful day for riding!!!
