Oct 1 Germania

It was supposed to be in the 80s this weekend and although I couldn’t find anyone to ride yesterday, it allowed me to get quite a few items accomplished with plans to ride today with Brad. Decided to head to Germania area with hopes to see some colors and for lunch at the Longbranch Saloon since Brad had never been there before.

We took a more direct route to get there except just after Princeton where I decided to stop on Holmes Road by the barn with the flag painted on the steel roof. However this time I stopped on the side the flag is pointing in the correct direction for a photo.

While we were at the Longbranch, which was extremely busy due to a historical society meeting being held there, I noticed a lady wearing a Salty’s Seafood t-shirt so I asked if she was from Fondy and she and her husband were, but recently moved to the Germania area. We had a nice time talking to them before heading out.

From there we headed a little further west before heading back and then I ended up taking us into Eureka and then onto Omro for an ice cream stop at the Cheese House, but because it was near the end of the season, they didn’t have very many ice cream choices. So, I couldn’t get my favorite mint chocolate chip and settled for strawberry cheesecake which was still yummy and perfect time to cool down since it was 87 degrees by then.

From there we took 116 to Waukau with a stop at the Waukau Dam, and then Cty M back to town. It was so hot that by the time I got home I was pretty sweaty because I didn’t wear my airflow jacket, so all my gear, jacket included got thrown into the wash.

I sure hope we have some descent weather for the remainder of October since this is my favorite time of year for riding and also to enjoy the fall foliage. Only around 130 miles today and two maps because I turned the tracker off when we stopped for lunch in Germania to help preserve the battery life of my phone. If it wasn’t so stinking hot, I would have kept on going.
