July 18 Menomonee Res

I had intended to go swimming today, but Kevin convinced me to go for another ride today since it wasn’t going to be too incredibly sticky. So, with that said I mentioned going up to the Menomonee Reservation taking one of our favorites, Hwy 55 along the Wolf River. And we did just that.

Because today’s ride would be more of a haul, I didn’t invite anyone else thinking most folks wouldn’t have enough time for it or just too long of a ride in one day. I also made sure we left earlier with thoughts of a swim if I got home early enough.

We started out at 9 from my place and I pretty much tried making it more of a direct route there for good timing. And we did make good time up to Shawano. Only 2 hours. We stopped for breakfast at The Home Plate on Main/Hwy 22.

Then off to Keshena for a pit stop along the Falls. We were lucky enough not to have anyone ahead of us for quite a while, but came up pretty quickly on a slow car. So we took Cty M to make a stop along the Wolf River and to let them get way ahead of us. Luckily again when we got back onto Hwy 55 no one was ahead of us. Except 3-4 miles before we turned off on Cty W we came back up on that car and a slow going Harley. I had chose for us to take Camp Road, but it ended up being gravel. I should have known better since all of the times I've been up there before and I didn’t recognize it. So, that delayed us and we eventually took Cty W into Mountain where we stopped at the School House Rock parking lot to see about getting back to our original route and off of Hwy 32 which is extremely busy on Sundays with people coming back from up north.

We did get back on track and then had a few more missed turns/roads.

I thought we could perhaps stop at Frogg’s for ice-cream in Sherwood, but it was way too busy and I was pretty beat by then because I had also been awake since 3:30.

We made it back to Fondy around 3:30, but I was too exhausted for a swim. It was another beautiful day for a ride and Hwy 55 along the Wolf River is so much fun with sweeping curves and some slight elevation changes.
