Nov 2 Elkhart Lake

Previous

Since we were expected to have some more unseasonably warmer weather during the week, I asked if I could take off this afternoon to go for a ride and use up some of my PTO, which was approved.

I had planned to ride with one friend who is retired, Brad, then received a text from another friend I used to work with at G&L who is also retired, Tom. So I mentioned this ride to him and he was able to join us too.

I told them to meet me at my place at 12:30 and I was originally thinking of going to Elkhart and grabbing some lunch at Lake Street Cafe. The only thing that changed was the direction I was going to take to get there. Right before I got off of work, I decided to take us through town, along Lake Winnebago and through St. Peter and Mt. Calvary.

It was probably close to 1:30 when we arrived there and we had an awesome server and food, including a really nice visit. Although I didn’t want to cut the stop short, it was going on 3 p.m. and I still wanted to take us near the Northern Kettles to Dundee. Plus we also wanted to be back before or by 4:30.

So, off we went cutting through the Osthoff’s parking lot to get to Cty J to A into Glenbeulah, then taking Cty S to Hwy 23, south on A to T, then south on G to Dundee. Since we were running out of time, I just took Hwy 67 from there through Campbellsport and to Lomira, with a pit stop in Lomira for me to top off my tank in case this would be my last ride of the season.

On our way back to town, Tom and I dropped off on Lost Arrow Road to get to River Road since both of us live just off of Esterbrook and Brad continued on Hwy 175.

Not much for miles, but as usual for this time of year, I really didn’t want to stop and even hugged the tank of my bike on my last leg home. I know, I am a weirdo. Hah!
