May 29 Kettles

Well it was a trifecta weekend. Going three for three over the holiday weekend for riding. Thankfully Kevin is always up for a ride and willing to plug the routes into his GPS. Although for today’s ride, we really didn’t need to do that since we have done it so many times, but I sent it to him anyways and eventually he did turn it off once we were in the Kettle Moraine because he doesn’t like hearing her when there are so many turns. Typical woman, LOL! I also didn’t plan it for too far because I wanted to be home a bit early again.

It was another gorgeous day; so perfect for riding with all of the gear too!

I met Kevin again at his place around 9:30. We took Cty V all the way to Kewaskum where we stopped for gas and then past Sunburst to Cty D before hitting Kettle Moraine and Scenic Drive. Since we were there a bit earlier in the day, traffic was pretty light.

Today we ran into the Sheboygan county sheriff near Greenbush where Scenic Drive meets Cty T and it wasn’t good. There were two of them with their lights on and a damaged, dirt covered black sporty propped up in front of them by the side of the road, but no biker or paramedics. Just as we passed them we saw the Flight For Life helicopter overhead; and just as we were turning onto Hwy 23 from Cty A is where the helicopter landed and all of the paramedics, and firefighters were at the Town Hall. Ugh, so hate to see that!

From there we stopped at the Mill Pond in Glenbeulah to see if there were any crawfish, but it was pretty weedy and didn’t see any. From there we were going to have lunch at Three Guys and a Grill in the Sheboygan Marsh, but they weren’t open. So then we headed to Elkhart Lake to stop at The Lake Street Cafe, but they were also closed. However, I saw tables out back behind their building as we came into town, so we walked around to check it out and there was a Mexican food stand (Amasa) there. Bingo! Taco’s it was for both of us and they were extremely good! While we were there we found a post about the motorcycle accident on the Sheboygan Police Scanner FB page. Didn’t sound good. A twenty year old male with his left shoulder deformed, he had no feeling from the waist down and they found him with his bike on top of him with labored breathing. We still couldn’t figure out why in that spot since it is a slower turn onto Scenic Drive with no blind spots, there wasn’t any gravel or grass clippings, but doesn’t matter its still terrible. Prayers to him and an ugly reminder of my get off in 2008.

From there we planned to head to Chilton for ice cream at Scoops taking Hwy 57 & 32. Kevin wouldn’t take my photo there though by their boards, so I had to take one myself. Oh look it’s upside down. Think I’ll leave it that way, haha!

Again, a much shorter ride for today, but I sure was pleased with riding every day and the absolutely spectacular weather. Even the weather man said he felt like he was on repeat and running out of good adjectives to desribe it.
