April 14 West Bend

Next

I had gotten a hold of Brad a couple of nights ago about riding this weekend and he was only available today, and Kevin ended up having some family plans come up so he couldn’t make it with us today.

Brad and I agreed last night to meet at Fudgies for lunch in Glenbeulah around 11. When I did some running around in the morning it already felt warmer than yesterday had ever gotten, so I left a bit earlier than needed with plans to stop at Mill Pond in Glenbeulah to spy on some crawfish (only seen one) and then to the BP there to get some fresh fuel.

Brad showed up shortly after I parked at Fudgies and we were the only bikes, or people there, for that matter, and it still wasn’t 11 yet, when they open. When they did open, we decided to sit outside on the patio since it was such a beautiful day and we were greeted by some resident cats while eating our lunch.

From there I took us through the northern portion of Kettle Moraine north unit and then took other back roads south, eventually taking Moraine Drive and some other roads into West Bend where I had intended for us to stop at the new Creamery on Main Street. Once we found it, we both had some turtle custard sundaes. Yum, yum!

From there I was going to take Hwy 45 north, but it was closed in Kewaskum, and the detour wanted to take us all the way to Hwy 41. I, instead decided to take Lake Bernice Road north and some other road east to Cty V south of Campbellsport which is where we broke off from each other. Brad heading north, and I heading east.

I eventually made it through Dundee, past the old Ditter family farm and Greenbush, and then taking my favorite stretch of Cty S into the south side of Glenbeulah, and then Cty C to Cty J, and Hwy 32 back home to Grove. I opted again to keep my bike at my place as I planned to take it to work tomorrow.

I completely forgot to get a photo of our bikes at Fudgies and I intentionally did not use my tracker because of how much it drains my phone battery, and didn’t want to do that when I had a good stretch of riding back by myself. I’m guessing around 120 miles though, and today was absolutely much nicer than yesterday, and I certainly seen more bikes out too!
