September 11-12 Tampa Trip

I finally had the opportunity to make a trip to visit our new Tampa Power location. I would have liked to stay longer, but the same flight jacked up $200 more to stay one more evening. I flew out on one of the saddest dates that I can remember and will never forget. It was nice our pilot acknowledged that before take off in Milwaukee. I arrived in Tampa at 10:40 a.m. and headed straight for our facility. When I arrived there was a crew there preparing to head for NC to assist with the hurricane Florence relief that would be needed. I found a nice authentic latin restaurant near by for lunch that day, Frank and Papi’s, and ordered a Cuban sandwich with a fried spicy crab cake puff. It was very good!

The next day I was informed they were sending out another crew to NC for the storm relief. I am so proud of our crews to be able to assist again as they have in the past after hurricane Irma. Today I went to lunch with the Project Manager assisting me during my visit and he recommended going to Ford’s Garage based on knowing I was kind of a gearhead since I own a motorcycle. It was so nostalgic and awesome with antique Fords outside and inside, including wheels for sinks in the bathrooms with gas pump nozzles for the water spigots, including an old gas station out front with a drive over ding-ding notification. Their claim to fame are an awesome assortment of Angus beef burgers. Who doesn’t love an excellent burger?! Unfortunately the closest and only Ford’s Garage outside of Florida is in Michigan, which isn’t too far away. My car friends would love this place so I took some pictures for them.

Didn’t have time for any site-seeing, but hopefully I can make it back there soon. Preferably over winter in Wisconsin!
