March Kansas Trip

I was scheduled for work to visit our Topeka KS facility on March 8-9. My flight out of Milwaukee was in the morning on March 7th with an 11:25 arrival into Kansas City. Since I would have to drive from there to Topeka, I would be driving right through Lawrence near Linwood where Rosie and Allen live (Candy’s aunt and uncle whom I have met several times, but haven't seen since around 2007). Obviously this was a no-brainer to see if I could plan a visit with them.

Before arriving to their place, I realized when I had given car keys to Fast Park in Milwaukee that my luggage lock keys were on it too. Luckily, as I figured, Allen had a bolt cutter to take care of that. Also, I never thought about possible tolls on the Kansas Turnpike. So I blew one pay area, but was able to recover with a credit card when exiting near Linwood. So Rosie gave me a few dollars for my trip from their place to Topeka. Also, the GPS Kevin borrowed me wasn’t charging with my rental car, so Allen and Rosie recharged it for me with their car when we went to lunch. Not sure if the rental company’s take out that fuse or it was just blown? With all of this said… Rosie and Allen will be receiving a care package from me in the very neat future. ;)

I arrived at their house around 1:15 on that day and they offered to take me for lunch in Eudora. After having lunch we visited for a couple of hours at their house and then I had to go, since I didn’t want to drive from there to Topeka around dusk or after dark.

I had a very nice visit with Rosie and Allen, including the staff at our Topeka location. The staff from Topeka took me for a little bit of site-seeing around the Capital after lunch on my last day. Pictures below...
