Sept 5 Westfield

It has been three weeks since I’ve been on the bike mostly because it was too hot and sticky, and so I opted for swimming instead the past couple of weekends.

I was also planning on taking the bike to Winona for this holiday weekend, but due to Canders not feeling well and the weather being crap on Saturday, we canceled that. I was going to attempt to go to La Crosse at least on Sunday and spend the night at a hotel with hopes to still get to Dad’s gravesite in Preston one of those days. However, I also scrapped that idea when I realized I would have to go alone and that it probably wasn't a good idea to do that much riding by myself in remote areas.

I was, however, able to get Kevin to join me for a ride for today.

It was a bittersweet weekend because although I couldn’t make it to MN I was around to see that they had completed the memorial bench for our Dad at Lakeside Park. Also, since Kevin and I split up as a couple last Fall the dating is starting to happen and we knew this would be the time when a damper would be put on our friendship. So, I also felt blessed he and I were still able to get a ride in today.

You wouldn’t believe how hard it is to find someone or other people who like to haul butt and ride a motorcycle for most of the day like we do!

Anyway, we started out at my place with a planned route to Westfield for breakfast for lunch at the Pioneer Restaurant. I chose mostly back roads with some stretches along Hwy 23 to get there.

Then mostly county and back roads for the way home with some more small jogs on two lane highways, with a stop at the Neshkoro Dam. We also ended up on a road (by mistake) which is gravel, White River Road. I turned on it because it was marked Rustic Road and was paved. However, after being on it for a while Kevin mentioned it might turn into gravel and then I spotted some trees that looked familiar which I said looked like ones along that road and bam, it was and turned into gravel. A very nice hard packed gravel though.

After we got to Berlin we made a stop at Shepard's for ice-cream and like most ice-cream stands here, their last day open for the season will be tomorrow. Boo hoo!

It was an absolute beautiful day for riding! The type I like best: warm, mostly sunny and no high dew points. Oh and there were definitely some signs of Fall in spots too. Another boo hoo!
